Digitization tools for Teksid

We digitalize the planning, distribution, and management of personal protective equipment (PPE) through advanced applications

Challenge

Teksid is one of the main industrial entities in the casting of iron and aluminum components for the automotive sector.

In the business context, there were difficulties in theoperational organization of work, caused by inefficient communication between operators and outdated document management. The goal was to improve collaboration and make processes more coordinated and digitally traceable.

Objectives

/01

Coordinate departments and lines efficiently

The activities in production involve multiple departments, roles, and lines. Without a structured system, the transitions between operators slow down work, increase times, and reduce productivity.

/02

Digitize the documentation

Programming on disorganized sheets does not offer precise and shared control. It is essential to adopt methodologies that allow comparisons between what was planned and what was achieved.

/03

Optimize maintenance

Systems and software often do not communicate with each other, making resource management inefficient and the ability to adapt to new orders or production requests.

Industrial

Approach

After careful observation of working and coordination methods, we analyzed the needs and limitations of current systems to truly understand the context.

The work focused on:

Ensure an accessible and as seamless an experience as possible for operators in terms of user interface and usability in the environments;

Integrate with existing machinery and systems, to promote a gradual and sustainable digital evolution that remains accessible in terms of costs and timelines.

Solution

Three integrated technologies for

1.

Improve the speed of response in production

System of autonomous push-button panels equipped with light indicators and a messaging system based on MQTT technology.

Challenge

Teksid needed a simple tool to improve the timeliness of communications between operators and reduce downtime.

The goal was to allow operators to request the intervention of forklift operators directly from the line, specifying what to move and where.

Functionalities

PENDING

The operators activate the request by pressing a button: the flashing light indicates that the intervention is pending.

TAKE CHARGE

The forklift operators can view the list of active requests in real time through the interface. With a tap, they take over the call: the light becomes steady.

CLOSE

Once the task is completed, just one touch to close the report and maintain a simple and effective flow of information and a quick management, without unnecessary waits.

Results

/01

Real-time communication between operators

/02

Smoother operational flows

/03

Visibility on all requests

/04

Minimal integration with existing systems

/05

Reduction of waiting times

2.

Facilitating the accessibility of information

Digitalization of plant documentation through QR codes linked to an intranet repository.

Challenge

Access to internal documentation was fragmented and complex, due to complicated credentials or access that slowed down the consultation of documents and the standardization of procedures. For this reason, all technical documents have been digitized into a scalable multimedia and multichannel web-based system.

Functionalities

The managers generate the QR codes from an administrative platform and apply them at key points in the facility.

Operators, using a smartphone or tablet, scan the code and access the associated PDF file directly.

Login and internet access are not required, but consultation remains immediate and regulated.

Results

/01

Simplified and uniform access to documentation throughout the plant

/02

Immediate consultation at the point of use

/03

Separate use between management and enjoyment of documents to ensure security

/04

Speed up search times and eliminate technical uncertainties.

3.

Plan and schedule intervention activities

Application with differentiated roles to organize maintenance interventions and account for hours with complete reports.

Challenge

Teksid needed a tool to manage and monitor technical cleaning and maintenance interventions of the plants in a structured way. Manual systems were poorly traceable and therefore did not provide visibility between planned and executed activities.
