Digitizing the museum experience

Accessibility, continuity,
enhancement
PocketArt takes shape during the 2020 lockdown, in a context where exhibitions and collections suddenly became inaccessible to the public. This condition highlighted the limitations of the digital tools available at the time, often designed as simple replicas of the physical visit or as temporary solutions.
The challenge was to design a digital platform capable of offering a structured and continuous visiting experience, suitable for the cultural sector, that could work both remotely and within exhibition spaces, without introducing technical complexities for the public or for the museum authorities.
The approach
We have designed an integrated digital platform, easy to set up and immediately usable, intended to work both remotely and within exhibition spaces.
PocketArt operates as a web app: access is through a QR code, eliminating any technical barrier for the visitor. This approach ensures continuity between physical and digital experiences, keeping the focus on the artworks and content.
Virtual Tour
Visitors can explore exhibitions and collections through an immersive digital tour, enhanced by:
360° panoramas
high-resolution images
audio and video content
curatorial texts
navigable maps and catalogs of works
A method designed to explore the exhibition before the physical visit, making collections not visitable in person accessible and preserving temporary exhibitions over time.
Digital Guide
Inside the museum, PocketArt transforms into a personal digital guide.
The interactive map guides the visitor through the spaces, while info cards, images, and audio accompany the observation of the actual works. Everything happens on the visitor's smartphone, without installations or dedicated devices.
UX/UI Design & Product Experience
The experience is designed to ensure immediacy and continuity at every stage of the interaction: from scanning the QR code to consulting the content.
The interface design is essential and discreet, leaving space for the artworks and cultural narratives. The digital does not impose itself, but accompanies the visit, enhancing its depth without replacing it.

A system designed for museums
The platform allows cultural entities to:
upload and organize works and editorial content
structure tours, scenes, and paths
manage maps and points of interest
publish complete experiences independently
PocketArt also integrates with existing museum systems, such as Museum by coMwork and MuseumPlus, avoiding content duplication and simplifying management flows.
The result
PocketArt offers museums a complete tool to design, publish, and preserve digital cultural experiences.
For the public, it means being able to experience art before, during, and after the visit, with a level of accessibility and depth extended over time.
For institutions, a flexible and sustainable platform, adopted in notable contexts such as the Royal Palace and the exhibition dedicated to Karl Lagerfeld.
A project that demonstrates how technology can enhance cultural heritage while respecting its experience and context.
